Types of mental health services offered at BGSU

The 咨询中心 offers brief short-term individual therapy to students for a variety of personal concerns. Most students are able to meet their goals for counseling in less than one semester. Many students find that the initial meeting itself is all they need to explore and clarify their feelings and options.

关系咨询

The 咨询中心 offers relationship counseling which can help address concerns that may cause difficulties in a romantic relationship(s). Relationship counseling can offer students the opportunity to gain insight into the dynamics of their relationship(s), 提高沟通技巧, and develop skills necessary to resolve future conflicts.

Group counseling is an excellent form of counseling that been shown to be as effective, 有时, 更有效的, 而不是个人咨询. Groups not only offer students opportunities to get support and feedback from others, but they are also designed to facilitate healing, 学习, 和改变. The 咨询中心 typically offers several clinical groups based on student need and demand.

外展 groups are offered to meet a variety of student needs on our campus.  Our current 外展 group offerings can be found by 点击这里.  外展 groups are open to all current BGSU students.  You do not have to be a client of the 咨询中心 to attend.  

酒精 & 其他预防毒品服务

The 咨询中心 offers individual screening for alcohol and other drug concerns, 个人及团体辅导, 教育, 为波士顿州立大学学生提供咨询和转介服务. These services are free to all students who come in on their own. There is a $200 fee for students sanctioned by the Office of the 教务长 or court ordered. To set up an appointment or ask questions please contact the 咨询中心.

学生援助 & 宣传(SAA)

学生援助 & Advocacy assists students in overcoming obstacles they encounter by problem solving and identifying solutions. It serves the needs of students by providing referrals, 协调, and follow-up beyond counseling services to link with community mental health and social service agencies.  SAA also assists students in navigating the university procedures and coordinating services for students involved with several BGSU offices. 学生援助 & Advocacy Specialist is the Ohio Reach liaison for BGSU and works with former foster youth to orient them to supports on and off campus.

咨询 & 危机干预

Counselors are available during normal office hours to consult with students, 教师, 工作人员, 父母/家庭, or others who are concerned about the well-being of BGSU students. Counselors are also available to assist students in the aftermath of campus crises or tragedies.

外展

外展 programming and psycho教育al workshops are periodically offered. The 咨询中心 offers a variety of training and professional development presentations for many University departments and organizations. An 外展 request can be made by anyone on campus including 居住生活 工作人员, 教练, 和学生小组通过完成 咨询中心项目申请表.

学生 may be introduced to resources which offer more or different services from those available through the 咨询中心. 推荐s may be made to other offices on campus or to professionals off campus.
